  • Hi Dave,

Thanks for your question and apologies for the delay in responding.

We're not experts in the immigration/visa process but I’ve spoken to our IVA supervisory team to see if they can offer any insights for you. In their experience, with clients who are applying for their own visas, having an IVA doesn’t seem to have an effect on the application.

We would recommend you contact the UK Border Agency to get specific details relating to your circumstances. You can find contact details here: www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/aboutus/enquiries

  • I have recently dealt with a case very similar to this one. I advised them to speak to the Home office. The Home Office advised that an IVA doesn’t always affect a person’s Visa, however, this would be at the discretion of the decision maker.

My advice would be to contact the Home Office and ask them, this way you are getting the answer along with an explanation.
