My partner and I want to get married. How will this affect my IVA?
I am about to complete the 3rd year of my IVA. My partner (the debt is mine, not joint) and I would like to get married very soon. I am currently living in his house as he works in a different part of the country and I pay him a small rent and cover all the bills for myself. I don't envisage this changing after we are married, except that he hopes to eventually to be based from home. Will this affect my IVA? I don't want him to become responsible for my debt. Thanks.

1Hi Jen,
Thanks for getting in touch.
As long as your financial situation remains the same, your upcoming marriage should have no effect on your IVA.
Your IVA is in your name and getting married won’t automatically include your partner into the agreement.
If there is going to be a change to your financial situation, please call one of our advisers who can review your case specifically.
If I can be of any further help, please feel free to contact me.
